Block Buster Malayalam Movie "Pazhasiraja" portrays some of the revolts which the Company collectively called the Pychy(Pazhassi/Cotiote) Revolts. These War were against the unscrupulous and commercial administration of the company. The siege and the loot of Pazhassi Kovilakom by the company threw Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja(Mammootty)and his wife into a life in exile. "Mammootty"’s ability to mobilize Kurichyar (tribals) and Muslims against the company goes on in the background. Every scene is so meticulously shot and the flow so smooth that you would fail to realize that the movie is 200 minute long.We should be thankful to Venu and Ramanath Shetty  for the gifting a visual treat.

Film Director Hariharan's film is truly a masterpiece in that it has the manner, matter and mood of a monumental epic, in the finest sense of the word. Snake Eat Chickens

Folks, this snake was not a huge bull snake, rattlesnake, or python.  It was just a 3 foot long nonpoisonous rat snake and about an inch and a half in diameter.  There was no way in hell he would ever be able to eat my chicken.  That did not stop him from killing her, though.  In fact, my neighbor believes it was the same snake he caught in his pigeon coop a few days earlier.  The snake had swallowed a wooden egg and strangled one of the pigeons.  My neighbor actually coaxed the wooden egg back out of the snake so it wouldn't die.  In hindsight, it obviously should have been killed, but neither of us ever thought that such a small snake would go after even bigger prey than his pigeon.  And, we both believed that having the occasional snake around and losing an egg every once in awhile was a fair price to pay for good rodent patrol.

Getting the visa was easy, permissions to shoot, a task I had not been faced with earlier. Back from Kabul, I decided to catch a flight with my cameraperson the next day. Leaving behind a very worried office that cautioned me - be careful...cameras are confiscated, journalists jailed. With those words...

So there I was, at the airport. Emirates, surely one of the finest airlines I've flown in. Not that I m interested in women, but for those who are, it's worth mentioning - the air hostesses were stunning.

The moment we landed in what many call - the city of gold--------- we saw, massive steel pillars, women wearing rather stylish veils and men in the white robe and amidst the very shiny steel pillars, were, long queues of the migrant work force..Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalis... I thought I got my story right there, at the airport... But I couldn t shoot...
